Tusa - KAROL G & Nicki Minaj

Feeling like in the past week or two that I'm slowly getting back to reality, as from Early-Feb to 1st March (almost 3 weeks) I was in Mexico exploring the organised chaos & amazing culture of Mexico City & then onto the Yucatan Peninsula on the East Coast of Mexico to lap up the margaritas & sunshine of Playa Del Carmen, Tulum & Cancun; & yes it was ABSOLUTELY unreal.

It was embraced wholeheartedly as a great excuse to completely switch off & relax being EXACTLY what was needed to recharge my batteries. It's been just over two years since my last big holiday as once I returned to Australia beginning of 2018 I dived straight back into looking for full time work & then once employed hadn't really taken much annual leave since focus changed to saving up again. Not only was it a trip to Mexico but the week before Simon & I left for our holiday we got engaged as well at our most favourite restaurant The Little Snail! Simon threw me an absolute curveball just before dessert arrived, & after happy tears & an enthusiastic YES! we spent the rest of the evening partying it up at the sports bar at The Star. So we nicknamed this holiday our Honey Sunset as the pre-excuse celebration before all the wedding stuff begins!

Here's just a few snaps of our journey!

During my time in Mexico City & in the Yucatan Peninsula it was easy to establish that Mexico as a whole has a total love obsession with Salsa & Bachata, so everywhere we went it was on shop radios, taxi radios, pouring out of residential windows & backyard parties. Everyone we met knew how to dance, knew how to move & as not the most coordinated of dancers we were definitely jealous! It was just amazing how within seconds of someone playing music loudly, how keen everyone around us was about just dancing with a partner on the spot in public.

There was a good couple of songs that we heard on rotation, but it was this song below that really caught my rhythm. Wrap your ears, grab your salsa shoes & get into it below!

Tusa which translates from Columbian slang to "Heartache & a desire for revenge felt by a person when their partner breaks up with them" is a song written by Columbian reggaeton singer Karol G. The single was released November last year & its been catching waves around the world ever since. When Karol G was originally sharing snippets of her song on social media Nicki Minaj approached her promising the best rap of her life for the song.

In the US, it was also the first song by a female act in a lead role to chart at number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart since 2016, when Shakira's "Chantaje" featuring Maluma reached the top. When you take a step back & realise how competitive this chart market it is, thats absolutely amazing!

I just love how catchy it is! I just love how you seriously cannot sit still when listening to Tusa, I found myself humming it across our holiday as well. How could this song not put you in a good mood?

Hope you all have a great week ahead!

Cheers

Amy
