Got to love a 4 day working week after a 3 day long weekend! For many different Australians this weekend was about spending extra time with family, some people choose to stay put or by going away for a little break after the rush of Christmas/New Year. For other Australians, many of whom have been fighting the bushfires since September, the long weekend was just another day ensuring that our country is safe. It is always these true Australian heroes that hold the values of being Australian.
Regardless of any situation, our emergency service teams are always forever caring, forever putting themselves before others & we have them to thank for our safety through what has been a horrific Bushfire season so far. SO THANK YOU! The Australian long weekend we also celebrated & acknowledged our Australian heritage with Australia Day, its been a long time coming but more & more people don't want to celebrate Australia Day on the 26th January, so on this long weekend I stand with & pass true respects & acknowledgment of Aboriginals who are the traditional custodians of this land #changethedate.
What was also celebrated across the long weekend as mentioned last week was the Triple J Hottest 100, which for music lovers of all kinds of genres is an ideal way to unwind across a long weekend. As explained further from last week, it is only songs that are released between 1 Dec 2018 to 30 Nov 2019 that can qualify. When voting, only 10 songs can be voted for from each Triple J listener with hope that either of their votes get the spot of top song. For this year's Hottest 100 at least over 3.2 million people voted & from records of previous years thats smashed a record!
Here's how my songs voted for fared this year;
There was unfortunately a few songs on my list that didn't even make it to the Hottest 100, but songs's like Magnify - Northeast Party House got #128 & Pressure to Party - Julia Jacklin got #197. My disappointment of the day was the fact that Client Liaison got #92 for The Real Thing which we all know is such a banger!
The winner of the day was Billie Eilish with "Bad Guy" that took out the top gong. Billie Eilish became not only the first woman in 30 years to win the #1 song but she was also the youngest to win the award as well. It was a music filled day which was nice & it's a day I look forward to every year.
Let's get onto this weeks song!
Nobody's Home was released February 2019 & was produced by Mallrat (Grace Shaw) & Australian Producer Basenji. This song since the first time I heard it I was hooked. Both of these artists just totally compliment each other in this song! Mallrat has previously appeared on Play it Forward >> as I absolutely love her song Uninvited.
It's mysterious, has a tinge of sadness throughout it as it's a song dedicated ode to a crush. This song was also in my Top 10 for the Triple J Hottest 100 & I'm pretty happy that it got as far down as #59. Hope you all like it as much as I do!
Have a great rest of this 4 day week!
Cheers
Amy
