A bit of a later post this week! As after Monday nights plane cancellation from Brisbane to Sydney it seemed right to avoid the massive lightning & storm clouds roaming through the sky. Not entirely seen as a disadvantage, it meant that Simon & I could have another fun night filled with Sangria & good friends. As before all the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season it seemed the right time to take a break & have a long long weekend in Brisbane city. Which meant my laptop was having a nice break here in Sydney!
Now your probably thinking, as a holiday away why would you want to go to another city when you already live close to one. Well Brisbane is a whole different level of city, it's more vast, the CBD part lives all in one direct area & literally after 5mins of driving/walking out of it you are already in residential, riverside living. Both Simon & I had a beautiful time in Brisbane & it was made even better as we stayed with/hung out with my family friends who moved up to Brisbane at the beginning of this year.
We were based in a very cute/chic riverside suburb called Bulimba, hopped on the river cat & had a good couple of trips on the Brisbane river to take it all in, checked out the Australia VS Pakistan Test Cricket at The Gabba & celebrated Warners 100 with a Brisbane classic XXXX Gold beer, had an antipasto platter at the cult classic pub Pig & Whistle then drinks under the Storey Bridge at Felons Brewery as well as exploring the weekend markets & man made/totally amazing Southbank Beach. Which is practically a giant beach in between the river & the CBD! What I noticed is that everyone in Brisbane owns a dog, that the heat in Brisbane is just a whole different level. It's the kind of heat that doesn't feel sweaty it feels like its hitting you directly skin level which is even more hectic. (My sandal tan & shorts tan is definitely here to stay!) & without sounding like a Sydney snob (cause I'm totally being genuine here) I thought the food & drink was absolutely hands down amazing in Brisbane as well as the locals were friendly & warm.
After feeling that extra bit refreshed/relaxed before the hustle & bustle it was then to my excitement over the weekend that I found out one of favourite dirty electro groups had released a new single for the first time in a DECADE. Wrap you ears around it below:
Van She Tech consist of Nicholas Routledge (Nicky Night Time) & Michael Di Francesco (Touch Sensitive) which is 'for the dance floor' side project to their synth electro indie band Van She.
They've over the years done quite a number of cool remixes such as Feist "1234" & "I Love You" by I Am Finn as well as "UFO" by Sneaky Sound system to name a few.
It's so exciting to know they have some new material from them as for NYE they been placed on the bill for NYE in the Park.
Starchild was released on the 22nd November last week & after a good few listens it's got a total killer bass line & I love the subtle "Star Child, yeah, don't stop, yeah" running throughout the song.
I'm definitely intrigued to see it they will release more material in time for Christmas/New Years but I hope you like it as much as I do!
Have a great week ahead & don't stop dancing!
Cheers
Amy
