Music has a lovely way of bringing everyone together & on the weekend I witnessed a beautiful sight. It's was my boyfriend's birthday over the weekend & the Spanish restaurant we happened to eat in had an Open Mic Hour. We were merry on Sangria & having such a wonderful time, & after a stiff drink we somehow managed to coax my boyfriends little sister into getting up on stage & having a go!
She ended up effortlessly singing a few songs to the small crowd in the restaurant all whilst playing the guitar; a few of the songs she sung were Yesterday by the Beatles, The Only Exception by Paramore as well as Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. It was truly truly amazing! & what a very brave thing to do! We then ended the lunch with a sing song of Happy Birthday & it was a good day had by all.
This week's song is super groovy & has been wriggling in & out of my ear for the past couple of months. I guess theres just something so jangly & catchy about this track. Wrap you ears & eyes around it below:
To my surprise & delight, Lime Cordiale are actually an Australian pop rock duo hailing from the Northern Beaches in Sydney! This fact definitely caught my surprise as I honestly guessed from their accent/ singing style that maybe the band were based from the UK or somewhere else more exotic. I'll admit that when I first listened to Lime Cordiale I'd say they have similar style to The Kooks as there's just something about a cruisy twang.
Robbery which was released in September earlier this year, is Lime Cordiale's latest EP & was the kickstarting single for their Australian National Tour which actually wraps up after numerous dates within the next month. Tickets are selling fast!
Lime Cordiale is a duo band of brothers consisting of Oli & Louis Leimbach, the band started in 2011 & since then they have released quite a number of EPs; such as Faceless Cat, Falling Up The Stairs. As well as their first studio album Permanent Vacation released in 2017 & in early May they announced at some point a second studio album is in the works.
In 2018, they released EP Dirt Cheap, but it was beginning of this year in February when they released their single Money that I had heard of them. This song is very catchy!
Though it was only until Robbery came out in September & in the same week of the singles release that I happened to catch their Like A Version on Triple J that totally caught my eye as this cover is just glorious. They did such an amazing cover of Divinyls "I Touch Myself" which you can view here
Robbery quite obviously you could tell from the lyrics that this song is slightly romantic & is an ode to lost love but committing to finding it again. A girl has stolen the guy's heart & he proceeds to chase her from a balcony in Paris, all the way through to the beaches in Barcelona, Ireland, Netherlands as well as Sydney Harbour & the steps of The Opera House!
What's lovely about Lime Cordiale is each of there songs in their discography have a slight reggae vibe as well as a cruisy vibe to them. Honestly if a song transports you to another place, thats amazing in itself.
Hope you like this catchy song as much as I do! Have an amazing week!
Cheers
Amy
