Lovesick - Laurel

Friday night I ended up taking a good boogie down nostalgia lane & found myself partying in Darling Harbour! Even though most nights you would still catch me out of the house this time round it felt as though I hadn't been down to any of the nightclubs in Darling Harbour for ages! It was a long overdue girls night to end the working week & it really was just fabulous!

I think a lot of people would normally forget to have a night out & about in Darling Harbour as usually most people in Sydney only tend to go down there when their relatives are visiting or to do really touristy things. I guess given that Sydney is still impacted by the lock out laws (Can't believe this started in 2014 & I'm still bringing it up) most places can only let people in before 1:30am & no later. The nightclubs that are along the Harbour are full of fun & Darling Harbour actually surprisingly have some great happy hours!

Cafe Del Mar was the first stop, & it's hidden on the top level residences of Darling Harbour, tucked away near Pyrmont Bridge. With decently priced Cocktail jugs & balcony views of the harbour it truly transports you to a European beachside day club. I didn't realise that Cafe Del Mar had a good solid House DJ who basically took nearly every modern song & added a good house spin to it, so I felt like I was sitting at an exclusive club in Barcelona. We literally stayed here for ages drinking sangria as the DJ spun bangers all night.

After Cafe Del Mar we decided to take it back to the old school & decided to give Cargo Bara crack. What was surprisingly lovely about Cargo Bar is it literally felt like it had taken all of our iPods & plugged them into the sound system. The music here hasn't even really changed, if anything its adapted! There was plenty of house music, old favourites, rock ballads, trance music, electro, EDM nearly every genre imaginable was being blasted. In between majority of the dance music there was so much nostalgia, tracks that may have been lost between my home playlist & all the feelings the song gave me when I first heard it came rushing back. One of my mates, back in the day was quite the shuffler so it was nice to look around the club & see lots of people in the club dancing & I was amazed how for most of the night that was her signature move & her legs never got tired! It was such a fun feeling, dancing so much that you didn't care what everyone else thought of your dance moves, & dancing so much that you could actually feel sweaty.

It's nice to know that there are still some solid places in Sydney that you can go out to & have a good night. If anything I'm always up to embracing live music as well as the party culture that we have here in Sydney. If the people want to party, we sure still find a way to have a good time!

This week's song is a little bit special, as I cam across this indie track when I was driving over the weekend & I'm absolutely in love with it!

Laurel is a British Indie musician who is based in London & whose humble beginnings started in 2013. Laurel's fame slightly grew when her first EP "Blue Blood" was released on her Soundcloud & music bloggers became obsessed with her style. What's amazing is Laurel fully writes, records & produces all her music within her bedroom studio in London.

Laurel's voice caught my attention as at first I thought it was a new song from either Chairlift, London Grammar or Alpine Band as her voice stripped back is truly soft, dreamy & airy. Lovesick was taken off her first album "DogVoilet" which was released last year & Lovesick is definitely a fan favourite!

This song is now over a year old & I wish I knew about Laurel sooner, I look forward to seeing what her other tracks sound like!

Hope you enjoy this track as much as I do! Have you all have a wonderful week!

Cheers

Amy
