Magnify - Northeast Party House

So rumour has it that after all the lovely weather we had over the weekend that were in for a cooler one today. Well hold tight, cause this week's post will try its best to warm you up & remind you that were closer to Summer than you think! As much as I really enjoyed getting cosy in Winter, there's just this good feeling that comes along when Summer finally shows its face. You don't have to worry about bringing a jacket everywhere you go, can choose from an array of colourful sandals & finally everyone can enjoy being outside again in the fresh warm air!

I thought I'd throw you all a curve ball this week as lately I've been hearing this song for a couple of weeks now & every time I hear it I get a chill all the way down my spine. This song has lots of big energy about it, the perfect amount of energy to put goosebumps on your arms & a twinkle in your toes. Might be bold of me actually to say this still so early in the year, but quite frankly this has closely become my favourite song of 2019.

Northeast Party House began in 2010 & what is rather cool it was formed after an epic two week long house party; the six piece are based in Melbourne & consist of band members Zach Hamilton-Reeves, Sean Kenihan, Jack Shoe, Mitch Ansell, Malcolm Besley & Oliver Packard.

When I first started listening to them all I kept thinking was Bloc Party, but like Bloc Party when they first came out, raw, punchy, strong lyrics & very fun songs. Except Northeast Party House bring something a little bit more, they infuse dance so well, that you don't just want to rock out, you want to dance like your in a nightclub as well. Synth rock at its finest.

Think it's about time we cracked into this weeks song, so hold onto your dancing shoes because its about to get awesome!

Magnify is the latest single which was officially released earlier in the year on the 26th July.

Northeast Party House have described their latest single as "Capturing the moment with someone where your feelings are intensifying & you crave that security of knowing they feel the same way"

This song is just so full of energy, vibrancy, & has a beat that would easily seduce you onto the dance floor. I've easily in the past month listened to this over 100 times.

Magnify was also produced by Kim Moyes who you may or may not recognise as one half of the Presets. Which from online articles the band described as a "massive idol" to them.

What really got me into their music & after reading a few online interviews is the excitement behind their passion towards dance music. My favourite quote from them which is something I've definately partly said a few times on Play it Forward >>

"2006/07 Electronic music in Australia, is one of the reasons that Northeast Party House started.."

& I couldn't agree more! 2006/07 was the starting point for a lot of great dance artists & is probably still a strong influence to many emerging dance artists today.

This is the first sign of new music from Northeast Party House in about three years & coincidentally thanks to their latest single they will be playing at the Metro Theatre this Saturday 21st September (you could probably still purchase tickets -> here) It will also be their first national tour in two years. Rumour has it they will also be sneakily sharing tracks from their latest album "Dare" which has been announced to be released sometime through September/October.

"I wanna see us, see us light up & go

& take over dance floors,

Melt into one

I wanna see this, see this flicker & go,

Always crave, always crave,

for something more

& I wanna magnify this,

This love, this love with you"

Absolute banger!

Hopefully next week I should have a review for James Morrison's gig that's happening this Friday night, but till then I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Cheers

Amy
