Don't you just love a shorter week? The only thing about a shorter week is the dilemma of figuring out what day it is. Wednesday? Is it Tuesday? I guess all that matters is that were getting closer to Friday again! Have you started already making weekend plans?
It's just amazing to believe that Easter has been & gone - did we all enjoy the 4 day Easter long weekend? I know I did! Lucky me, but the Easter Bunny did bring me a little chocolate (in dinosaur form!) but most of my weekend was spent with the people I love the most! with the addition of eating, drinking & being in the sunny outside! We've also gained an hour thanks to Daylight savings, but I don't think I'm ready just yet for the days to get shorter/darker earlier. Soon it will be that time again for boots, jeans, jumpers & jackets so we will need some music to get us all warm & fuzzy for the weather to come!
I had a girls night out Saturday night & I'll admit other than partying in Europe it's definitely been a while! Study really does consume most of the week (& literally the past three years) so in between downtime I would usually find myself in a pub or bar rather than out clubbing! I have no direct vendetta against clubbing as people know me know I love a dance! but forking out $20 on entry before I've even stepped in can be a bit of a farce especially if you have no idea what music will be on or if there's a crowd even in there. This actually impressed & blew my mind in Barcelona, but Simon & I decided to give salsa-ing a go, the Salsa club itself was 10 euros to get in, but your ticket also entitled you to a drink at the bar! I got myself a Whiskey & ginger ale too - How good value is that!?
Well the night was a good laugh & a great catch up, but the clubs I can admit are a complete joke! In between drinks & making decisions which can make or break a night out, it was the clubbing part that actually deflated the night a little. We started at this super chic & super cool Japanese infused bar called "Suey Sins" in Surry Hills & it was just delectable; The cocktails & food went down an absolute treat. We then next made our decision to check out a club so we headed back into the city. There was no queue to get in which was great, I got my ID checked which was fine, but it was the SECOND QUEUE inside the club that really got to me. This particular place had an upstairs area to go dancing, there was already a DJ on the level I was on but the music wasn't groovy enough to boogie to. The girls & I then decided to join the queue to upstairs, thinking it wouldn't take long at all but nearly 30 MINUTES LATER we finally made it to the top of the stairs. The bouncer wasn't very nice either, he was telling all us girls to stop looking so sad & to smile more. I didn't want to be too cheeky, but I told him I would smile more if I didn't have to wait so bloody long between drinks & when we finally got in the club to my disappointment it was half empty anyway. Music was pretty good, but the fact the club have to stunt their clubbers from coming in to help create an illusion that it's heaving, is just a bit too much for me. I was also quite surprised, by the number of clubbers basically just sitting & lounging around, like they were chilling at someones house. I'm sure it's been a big day, but get dancing & get those endorphins into you! I would usually have nights where I had danced so much I was sweating, but on this particular night I stayed till I had reached a time quota & it was time to go home.
To my surprise & delight, this banger came on in the club & I'm amazed to believe that this original song came out in 2002. I have memories of this remix being on my Ministry of Sound CD. It was definitely a surreal & slightly old feeling, knowing I was practically the only one in the club singing & waving my arms to this. Give it a go! This is an absolute 00's dance classic.
David Guetta! You exclaim, he sounds very familiar. He's got an abundance of dance tracks with an amazing amount of musicians under his belt such as "Titanium" with Sia, "Who's That Chick?" with Rihanna, "What I Did For Love" with Emeli Sande, "Turn Me On" with Nicki Minaj, "Where Them Girls At" with Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj, "Gettin' Over You" with Chris Willis, LMFAO & Fergie, "Sexy Bitch" with Akon & my favourite "Memories" with Kid Cudi to name a few. Well this track above was a mash up of DJ Tocadisco's remix of The Egg's single "Walking Away" with the vocals of Chris Willis from David Guetta's single "Love Don't Let Me Go". Hard to believe this track is 16 this year but it's still an absolute track! Hope this will have you dancing to the end of this week!
Cheers Amy
