In 20 DAYS EXACTLY it will be Christmas! Have you got all your shopping done? Have you sorted what presents you need to get? Have you figured out what your cooking/ bring to the festivities? I'm slowly getting myself organised, & I mean slowly as once again like every year when it comes to Christmas presents & shopping in general I tend to take my time. Every year I tend to set myself aside one full night & I can't basically leave the shops till I have everything that is necessary!
We're also one more week down & next Friday is my last day of full time work. I'm not mentioning it to brag but as of next weekend I will be leaving my job to take up FULL TIME FUN-EMPLOYMENT. I'm nervous, excited, all the emotions I can think of, as I've never done this before. But surprisingly I've adapted & am slowly starting to remove myself from my role & most things that belong to me have already been taken home. I've also heard that it's snowing in parts of Europe too, so if I get a chance to see some snow too that's very exciting.
Next weekend also means that my family & I are on our way to Melbourne for Graduation, can't believe it is almost here! Which means next weekend is when I see Paul Kelly live finally! This will be my last gig before the new year & who knows in 2018 I should hopefully have more amazing gigs lined up! I've put some new tracks on my ipod now in time for my holiday. I've added in some new Alex Lahey, Angus & Julia Stone, Courtney Barnett, Flight Facilities, Jen Cloher, Jax Jones, Julia Jacklin & Mallrat. Like I've mentioned it's always a good feeling when you get new music on your playlist. It's nice also to finally get tracks I've wanted on my playlist to listen to!
This week's track is a slightly older track, released around May last year. But I figured due to the few dance tracks that have been shared in the past few weeks it's a nice idea to change the genre direction! You'll be surprised if you are unaware of the artist behind this stage name. So wrap your eyes & ears around it below:
Dope Lemon is the stage name for Angus Stone, who you may recognise from the brotherly sisterly Australian duo Angus & Julia Stone.
"Uptown Folks" is first single & track off his side project & album Honey Bones & is an old favourite track of mine. The album was released mid last year & since then as we have edged closer to the warmer months, I tend to fall back to tracks that I love listening to on warmer days/nights. This song is also one of his best solo song projects to date that I believe.
Dope Lemon has also just recently released an EP called Hounds Tooth (which you can listen to here) if you are keen to here his latest works.
"Uptown Folks" is just as relaxing as a summers day, & all you really want to do is lie back in a hammock & watch the world go by. Now that as of last Friday that we are now in the season of Summer I seemed to think this song was fitting for this week as day by day I need to edge closer to relaxing more!
Hope you all like it as much as I do & have a fantastic summery week!
Cheers
Amy
