Stranded - Flight Facilities feat. Broods, Reggie Watts & Saro

The weeks are absolutely flying through & we're almost halfway through November! I can't believe I'm actually saying this but there is just under 6 weeks left till Christmas & in about 4 weeks I'll be jet setting to Melbourne for my Graduation! (tickets & grad gown are finally sorted!) & as a now surprised spanner in the works for all you readers in just under 7 WEEKS Simon & I will be heading to Edinburgh for Hogmanay/New Years & then parts of Europe early next year as I have just recently stepped down from my position at work! So the countdown for the trip is now on!

With this year being as busy as it has been, plus a mixture of ups & downs it seemed like the best challenging way to finish up the year of 2017. I ecstatically look forward to a fresh & totally new start in the New Year & whatever 2018 brings along with it!

Aside all the above excitement lately I've just been working my way through all the CDs I bought & really enjoying each artist as they have their own unique style/sound. I've been listening a lot lately to Gang of Youths (my obvious fave) & Meg Mac (excellent vocals) as in a few weeks time I'll be seeing them perform live in Melbourne. Will eventually need to squeeze some listening time in for Paul Kelly also!

I've also been enjoying listening to Cut Copy, who as a band that I've been listening to since what feels like early 2006 have managed to maintain a strong/funky/dancey sound. I've also been enjoying Alex Lahey's new album, & its nice to hear how her sound has been coming along from when I saw her original EP launch mid last year.

This week's track only literally dropped last week & is seriously the collaboration that dreams are made of. Wrap your eyes & ears around it below:

"Stranded" is Flight Facilities second new release track this year since 2014 & everyone is buzzing with absolute excitement. The only reason I can understand why is because every track so far that they've put out to the music world it causes a ripple effect of goosebumps!

Their first released single was teased originally in late June this year. The track was a collaboration with Emma Louise called "Arty Boy" which featured a couple who are good friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger & own a bodybuilding bath house in Iran. Emma Louise whom is already well known due to her previous collaboration with Flight Facilities through their dreamy track "Two Bodies". The first release this year has started a series of whispers of new material from Flight Facilities to come.

Beginning of this year there was then proof of a dream collaboration between Flight Facilities & New Zealand duo Broods (which would be the first time they have collaborated together) With one or two articles showing pictures of them in the studio together & social media sharing from both artists expressing there excitement to be at work together; social media then went in a buzz. The amazing bonus about this track is it isn't just a collaboration with Broods but also LA vocalist Saro & previous track "Sunshine" vocalist/musical comedy genius Reggie Watts. It was only through my own research that I found out that there are guest vocals & instrumental contributions from Sydney’s Touch Sensitive, Piers Lane, & Stella Mozgawa. "Stranded" which was released mid last week has been recorded across three continents & already within the week has cracked over 40 000 views on YouTube.

On first listen I was swept up in emotion & for the first time in a long time whilst watching & listening to a track I had a few tears. This track really does hits you in the feels. Set in a prison, a prisoner has a visitor come by & you can feel ever ounce of their joint emotions. The urge to touch each other & speak to each other & just say what needs to be said, to be forgiven, to be held & overall to be taken away from all of this mess.

The surprise in the music video for me (& spoilers if you haven't watched it yet by now) was when she picked up the guy & carried him away. I didn't see that scene happening at all but as it happened I was unsure whether to laugh or continue to cry. But it definately gave me the feeling that she was helping him no longer feel stranded but now only to feel safe.

Cause I’ve been branded, stranded,

Holding up these walls.

And when she sees, and I know,

Someone’s got the best of my,

Oh got the best of my soul.

I've listened to the track a few times now & I just think it's just delicious! Clearly another strong track by Flight Facilities & I'm definately excited about future tracks & even future tours in store!

Hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did & hope you all have a fabulous rest of your week!

Cheers

Amy
