Apologies guys! You were probably wondering where last weeks post disappeared to, unfortunately I was struck down with the flu for most of last week. Being a one woman band I succumbed to rest, spicy food & vitamin C & with all these exciting events happening into the Christmas period it felt wise to rest & re-coop.
Now as the weather starts to warm up, things are just starting to overall look up! We've had some summer days already this Spring & little rain so it feels like this Summer upcoming in particular will be a hot one! To ease yourself into the heat the ideal solution is to grab your best speaker, spin a playlist together & hit the park/beach & go get yourself some fresh air!
I also finally got a chance to hit the shops for some CD shopping & it seriously felt like I was visiting an old friend. I spent way over my budget (as per usual) & quite a long time scouring through the CD aisles but scored myself a good & long overdue haul. I guess the mix of work & study in the past had really held me back, but hopefully in the process I saved myself some money! I ended up walking away with some new Alex Lahey, Cut Copy, Wolf Alice, Gang of Youths, Angus & Julia Stone, Sløtface, Tired Lion, Meg Mac & The Smith Street Band. It was such a great feeling putting new music on my playlist so I'm looking forward to spinning new tracks.
Yesterday I also sorted out my first Graduation gift to myself, as I believe in the term of "treating yo self". Being from Sydney, there has been many times (& I'm annoyed to admit this) but there have been times when artists or gigs comes to Australia & I'm envious sometimes of the gigs that Melbourne gets. I mean they have won the worlds most livable city for many many years now so I get it, but some gigs or artists collaborating/decide at last minute to do an awesome free gig together & next thing I know the gig is ONLY in Melbourne. Well this time the gig gods were totally in my favour as last week I found out that Paul Kelly himself was doing a concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl not alone but with Gang of Youths, Meg Mac & Gretta Ray tying the concert with his famous track "How to Make Gravy" just before Christmas. The gig is like I've stated only in MELBOURNE, but amazingly its on the SAME DAY that I fly into Melbourne for my graduation party week. Being in Melbourne I would have actually missed Paul Kelly as a few days after he would then be performing on the Sydney Opera House forecourt with the amazing harbour around it & that is the same day that I'll be graduating from Uni in Melbourne. Also to top it off lately & as you kind readers would know I have been obsessed OBSESSED with Gang of Youths & you would all know of my sad tale of missing them at Laneway Festival beginning of this year by literally a few minutes due to being caught up in gig sharing with friends/timetable clashes. Mid year Gang of Youths then decided to leave Australia & make the official move to London so with timing I was never going to see them. I've also been obsessed lately with Meg Mac's vocals & for the past few years I've also listened to Paul Kelly & I know the man tours heaps, but the timing/budget has never worked in my favour so the fact I also get to see this music legend perform I'm very very excited. So yesterday I managed to score two tickets for myself & Simon minutes into the presale (general sale on tomorrow if you are like me going to be in Melbourne) which I understand from tomorrows general sale will be a very fast selling gig.
This week's track is a dreamy number that I managed to find just only a few weeks ago, its been stuck in my head since & is such a goodie! So wrap your eyes & ears around it below:
Fazerdaze is the pet project of Amelia Murray who is from Wellington, New Zealand. She released her debut self-titled EP in October 2014 recording the whole thing entirely in her bedroom studio in Auckland. In May earlier this year she also released her debut album "Morningside". "Lucky Girl" is off her debut album & it's just so dreamy & lovely! Might need to head back to the shops & try to find her album!
Hope you all like it as much as I do! Have a great rest of your week!
Amy
