It's amazing to believe that its nearly been a month that I've been study free! & I've been loving every minute of it. So far whenever I get the down time between work & other commitments I'm back outside in the fresh air doing all the fun stuff like trying new bars & picnics in the park. Like I mentioned last week it's just been lovely having the opportunity to finally catch up on TV/movies I've been wanting to watch & generally organise myself through an already fast-paced year. Well in the past few weeks I've been craving American BBQ (as hard to believe but it was over two years ago that I was in the U.S & also that my Japan trip was almost a year ago as of November) so over the past weekend I satisfied those meat cravings & found an American BBQ place in Enmore called "Bovine & Swine Co" which took me directly back down food memory lane (meat sweats, no regrets!) Also within the next two months a family friend & my best friend will be marrying the men of their dreams, so there's two future weddings & lots of fun stuff to countdown to before the year is over!
Talking about getting organised, Melbourne flights & accommodation have also been arranged & its also hard to believe that in just over two months it will be my graduation ceremony. Looking through the website I've got more of an idea what colour my degree ribbon will be & the day to day workings of the actual day. But my official instruction email comes through in the next week or so. Exciting times ahead!
I've also slightly become obsessed in the past week with a band called Sløtface whom are a Norwegian Punk band. I've been really digging their song "Take Me Dancing" as the music video is a tonne of fun (check it out here) I've literally been playing it non stop & I'm still not sick of it! I love when bands do fun & memorable music videos, it just looks like they are really enjoying what they do.
In the past week I've also just been listening to my regular playlist; Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix, The Killers, Gang of Youths, Julia Jacklin, Above & Beyond, 360, PEZ, Courtney Barnett & London Grammar.
It's definately locked in but at some point before the end of this week I'm going to head to the shops & purchase these below beauties (better get out the credit card!):
Lotta Sea Lice - Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett
Try Not to Freak Out - Sløtface
I Love You Like a Brother - Alex Lahey
Visions of a Life - Wolf Alice
Haiku from Zero - Cut Copy
Snow - Angus & Julia Stone
Dumb Days - Tired Lion
Villians - Queens of the Stone Age
Go Farther in Lightness - Gang of Youths
Low Blows - Meg Mac
This week's track has been chosen from my constant listening of PEZ's album "Don't Look Down". I've had the CD in my collection for quite a while now, but just didn't have a chance to burn the CD onto my playlist. Wrap your ears around it below:
"Don't Look Down" from PEZ's same title album Don't Look Down is one of my favourite tracks off the album featuring the vocals of Kota Banks it's simply an ode to his little girl & I just think that the lyrics are super sweet. Very inspiring track that I assume one day he will play to her & she can listen to it whenever she wants. The song summarises what all parents want, a better future for their children. For them to have strong, caring & independent personalities.
I've been a fan of PEZ for quite a while now, over the years he's been in & out of the music industry & as just like everyone in life he is only human. For the first time in 8 years "Don't Look Down" is PEZ's latest album & it was released in February this year where alongside it he toured Australia nationally.
I hope you like this track as much as I do & have a great week!
Cheers
Amy
