Beautifully Unconventional - Wolf Alice

What a super exciting & wonderful post this week as we celebrate an awesome milestone. I have had to pinch myself a few times this past week as I can't believe as of tomorrow that it's been two years Play it Forward >> has been globally live!

Between all the wonderful events in life, Play it Forward >> has been the ultimate escape. Having the opportunity each week to shares songs old & new that tug at the heart strings or get the feet grooving it's been absolutely lovely sharing it with you all & I have no intention of stopping! Music has always had this effect on me & is always there when you are tired, sad, stressed, nostalgic, happy & all other kinds of emotions. Sometimes with whatever mood you're in all it takes is a listen to your favourite song & everything feels normal. There's nothing more that I love than a song that can change your mood entirely or a song that can transport you to another time/memory magically for just those few minutes.

From the days of high school when I would rock a musically collaged folder of Dappled Cities, Thirsty Merc & Franz Ferdinand (all during the rise of Myspace where discovering bands/artists was like finding gold at the end of a rainbow!) I've always seen myself as a big fan of any kind of music. As dad used to say "is there a band really that you aren't a fan of?" & its true I give each genre I listen to a chance to show me why its so good. Usually common of me to ask my friends "have you heard of this band?" or "have you heard of this artist?".

If I believed someone would like a particular artist I'd even go to the efforts of burning & decorating a copy of the album for them. Funny how with many music streaming sites in today's music industry the ideology of sharing music that way is seen more as old school & romantic. Play it Forward >> was literally born one evening that I was out with a close friend, after many discussions over the years about different songs & artists recommendations they told me that they wanted to hear more about why I chose the song & not just ONLY hearing the song I was sharing. It's amazing how that little idea has grown now to how it is today!

In other exciting music news the full lineup for Laneway Festival has been released as of yesterday morning & whats really really cool is that there is quite a strong number of Unearthed artists on the bill. I'm already working my way through & listening to the artists as there is quite a few I've not heard of! You can view the full line up here on Laneway's main website http://lanewayfestival.com/

I've also got just about 2 weeks to go till I see Angus & Julia Stone for their Snow Album tour - so the countdown is on!

This week's track the music video only released yesterday & is also a featured artist on the Laneway lineup! Wrap your eyes & ears around it below:

Wolf Alice are a four-piece alternative rock band from North London, that were formed initially as a two-person band in 2010. Consisting of Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitars, vocals), Theo Ellis (bass), and Joel Amey (drums, vocals).

Through a string of EPs in December 2014 the band were named "Best Breakthrough Artist" at the UK Festival Awards. In the year before they were the most blogged about artists in the UK as well. It wasn't until early 2015 that they released their debut album "My Love is Cool". After touring extensively throughout most of 2016 with band 1975.

In June earlier this year, Wolf Alice released the lead single "Yuk Foo" off their upcoming second studio album "Visions of a Life" which is scheduled for release on 29 September 2017. "Beautifully Unconventional" is the third track release from their debut album.

Wolf Alice are a beautiful blend of folk, rock & pop & this additional teaser to their album with only a few weeks till their album release is welcomed! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

& like I say most weeks if you have any songs or artists that you'd like to recommend to me, don't be shy as I love to hear new music!

Hope that you all have a fabulous week!

Cheers

Amy
