Perfect Places - Lorde

The weeks are truly flying through, seriously how quickly is this year going! The days are getting lighter & longer & before we know it will be Summer! There's been a few days lately where the sun beams onto the skin & its just absolutely lovely. It's that time of the year where it's not too hot yet & still slightly not as cold as it has been. On a high note I've got a shorter week this week & I'll tell you I'm just a teensy bit excited.

For what seems like the first time in ages I've got a Friday off & I'm going on an long weekend adventure. It's the perfect excuse to get away from the hustle & bustle to clear the mind. At the moment it is still the calm before the storm, I'm still yet to hear from uni so literally for the past month everything feels slightly at a standstill.

I've currently been churning through my new/old CDs just enjoying my original playlist. I've been really enjoying listening to Nick Cave, Husky, Gang of Youths, Frightened Rabbit, Boy & Bear, Kimya Dawson & Julia Jacklin. Also for the first time in a while I've been listening to Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand.

Tonight I'm joining the work ladies to see "Kinky Boots". A musical based on a shoe factory in England that moves to more creative ventures. The show is musically inspired by Cyndi Lauper but was originally a book by Harvey Fierstein. I've also seen the movie adaptation quite a few years ago, so I'm looking forward to seeing it all on stage! I may even have a song to share from it next week!

This week's track has been out since June this year, but the music video only recently dropped a few days ago & I absolutely love it. Wrap your ears & eyes around it below:

Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor who is better know to her fans by her stage name Lorde. Lorde is a New Zealand singer/songwriter/record producer & at the age of 16 she released her first full EP & her career began to skyrocket since then.

"Perfect Places" was released on 1st June this year as her second single from her second album "Melodrama" which was released only a month or two ago on the 16th June. "Melodrama" was co-written & produced by Lorde alongside Jack Antonoff, Andrew Wyatt & Frank Dukes.

I love how moody & wonderful "Perfect Places" is, its like the song is trying to tell us that there is no such thing as perfect. Lorde's style especially to her fans has always been admired as perfect, as for someone her age shes totally slaying the music industry.

Over the years I've been a slight fan of Lorde only aware really of her greatest hits such as "Royals", "Tennis Court", "Team", "400 Lux", "White Teeth Teens", "Yellow Flicker Beat", her brilliant cover of "Everybody wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears & her latest single before "Green Light".

Her last album "Pure Heroine" was released in 2013, so "Melodrama" is her first album in 4 years & has definately been highly anticipated. Hope you enjoy the track as much as I do! Hope you all have a fabulous week!
