The Way You Used to Do - Queens of the Stone Age

This past week I finally got round to putting my new CDs onto my laptop & its just fabulous having new music to listen to. It's like when you change your bed sheets to fresh ones &/or take your towels straight out of the dryer; you just feel all warm & fuzzy!

Well freshly added to my playlist is an assortment of artists such as Aussie darling Amy Shark, Icelandic band Kaleo, Melbourne band Husky, dark & moody Nick Cave & an electric mix of Ed Banger Record artists from France. I'm looking forward to finally giving all those albums a good spin & I'm sure it's worth the wait! I've also decided at some point I need to clear through my older CDs to see if there is anything worth truly keeping, over time it does all build up though you can never really have enough CDs!

As for the massive gig review Queens of the Stone Age were as per usual absolutely amazing! You know when you get those seasoned bands that give the crowd exactly what they want & when they want it? that's Queens of the Stone Age to an absolute T.

This is actually probably the 4th time that I've seen Queens of the Stone Age & if i recall the very first time that I ever saw them perform live was at V Festival in 2008. One of the first songs I ever heard of theirs was "Mosquito Song" from their album "Songs for the Deaf" which was lent to me by a friend when I was in high school. Their show at the Hordern Pavilion last Wednesday was completely & utterly sold out. The crowd was an eclectic mix of old & young fans, but the minute you walked into the pavilion you knew you were surrounded by the truest of QOTSA fans. It was the only show in Sydney only just days before Queens of the Stone Age's stint at Splendour in the Grass & only a month away from releasing their highly anticipated 7th album "Villains".

Queens of the Stone Age opened their set with "Turnin' on the Screw" & it thundered its way all the way through the pavilion. The crowd as if putty in Josh Homme's hands were rocking along to every song being spun out. They then flew their way through the set by jumping between a good few classics & newer songs.

The stand out tracks for me were "Little Sister", "Sick Sick Sick", "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" (& might I add I loved Josh Homme's throw in of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab"), "Burn The Witch", "Make it Wit Chu", "My God is the Sun", "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar But I Feel Like a Millionaire", "Go With the Flow" & "No One Knows". They also played their newest tracks "The Way You Used to Do" & "The Evil has Landed". Coming back on stage with an encore of "A Song for the Dead" to end the night.

& what a show it was! Every time I've had the chance to see them perform, I always leave feeling good about the direction & standing that they have on the music scene.

It's seem only fitting this week to share with you all one of Queens of the Stone Ages newer songs "The Way You Used to Do". So put on your rocking boots & check it out below:

I'm definitely looking forward to late August for their newest album "Villains" to be released!

Hope you all have an amazing week!

Cheers

Amy
