It's been a busy little couple of weeks & slowly but surely I'm getting back into a routine. Hard to believe but it's actually been over a month since I sat my final uni exam. Everything is still currently up in the air as my path to Graduation in August is being determined. Though throughout all of this I'm remaining super positive & eager for my future adventures.
Hard to believe as well but my cousin & her boyfriend leave tomorrow & for the past couple of weeks they have explored the many many sights of Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne. It's been absolutely lovely having them both stay & I hope with what memories we've made these past few weeks are cherished for a long time. It's also been lovely having my cousin come back at an older age where she has been able to appreciate & see more. Hopefully soon I will get a chance to head back to the UK & pay all the family & friends a visit!
As their trip across Australia comes to an end, it means for me that its already that time of the year where I'm seeing Queens of the Stone Age at the Hordern Pavilion. I'm looking forward to Wednesday night & seeing QOTSA again live & hearing new material from their latest album still to be named/released later this year - 4 years in the making! Next week I should also have a full gig review & some cracking pictures! Queens of the Stone Age will actually be doing a live DJ set tonight at Frankie's Pizza on Hunter St in Sydney. So tonight if you are Nancy no plans, go check it out & get there early!
I've got a special post lined up this week as I introduce an emerging artist all the way from Scandinavia & share with you his recently released full EP "That Ship is Still Waiting". Wrap your ears around it below:
Aleksi Susi is a Scandinavian electronic artist who is currently composing/performing as a solo artist signed through Secret Entertainment/Inverse Records. Previously associated with bands/projects such as A:S:Örchestra, ALEXANRED, 2 Wolves & Scent of Flesh. As a solo artist his individual music style is drawn more to Electronic, Synthwave & indietronica.
His new release “That Ship is Still Waiting EP” consists of 3 fresh electronic songs & was only recently released through Secret Entertainment/Inverse Records in late May.
The tracks that consist on "That Ship is Still Waiting EP" are:
1. That Ship is Still Waiting
2. Class Reunion
3. Sunny Beaches
The big track across the EP is self titled "That Ship is Still Waiting" where there is dark synth flowing throughout with matching dark vocals. The lyrics are simple & to the point, which shows how comfortable Aleksi Susi is with his song writing.
"Class Reunion" is the second track off the EP & is a personal favourite of mine as it grabs you instantly from the beginning. This track appeared slightly more uplifting & melodic in its story telling, as it retold the occasion of being invited to a school reunion.
The final track on the EP is "Sunny Beaches" & is even more melodic & dancey than the previous two tracks. Quite a catchy track with strong use of synth & rhythm. A common theme is the vocals throughout all three tracks are dark & mysterious but each track also has lyrics that are honest & raw.
Aleski Susi has a strong interest in electronic music & has also been heavily influenced by heavier music styles from quite a young age as well as previous bands/projects. You can really see this influence shine through each of his tracks as this combination blends perfectly. He is definately an artist to keep an eye on & who knows with more material may one day come to Australia!
