It's been quite an emotional & slightly stressful start to this week, but like any positive strong minded individual you get back up & just get through it all. I'm still sorting my way through my results for uni & the journey isn't quite yet at the finish line, but I'm remaining positive & keeping my fingers & toes crossed for whats to come.
I finally got a chance & made the trip to the shop & purchased all the CDs that have been on my wishlist for ages. What was fantastic was since it had been a while there was so many new CDs to look at & explore. Since I was looking for particular titles as well, for a bit of my search I had an employee help me out - talk about service! Like most trips to the shop I did come out with one or two different CDs & unfortunately for now one or two CDs I wanted were sold out! Check out my epic haul below:
London Grammar - Truth is a Beautiful Thing
Husky - Punchbuzz
Amy Shark - Night Thinker EP
Kaleo - A/B
Middle Kids - Middle Kids EP
Client Liaison - Diplomatic Immunity
So next time I'm in the shops I'll be purchasing The Smith Street Bands latest album "More Scared of You than You Are of Me" & Methyl Ethel's latest "Everything is Forgotten". I decided against getting Rage's 30th Anniversary CD as the haul I've now purchased will last me for a good couple weeks/months & I noticed I already had a good few songs from it already in my playlist!! I've actually had a number of people question me lately as to why I still happily purchase CDs & don't just stream my artists/go completely hipster with vinyl. I guess the real honest answer behind it is CDs to me are still cool; they're compact & cute, I love the artwork & effort put in by the artists & also love that I have a physical copy signed or not signed as my own. So far I have a pretty hefty CD storage unit & the dream is to have quite a unique collection that I know I'll spin regularly regardless.
Exciting news but at the end of the week before last there was news that Angus & Julia Stone were returning with a new album as well as a national tour. The last time I got near an opportunity to see them was 2010 at Splendour & with clashes of other artists literally only heard the second half of "Big Jet Plane". So near the end of last week & with being subscribed to many music newsletters I gained access to the presale & purchased two tickets to see Angus & Julia Stone perform at the Enmore theatre late September with my mate Sheridan. I've also been intrigued to go to "Sensation Australia" in November a massive dance event in Homebush. But for now realistically with my bank balance/gig budget I'm happy to stick with Queens of the Stone Age within the next two weeks & Angus & Julia Stone in September.
Which brings me to this week's track! This track was only literally released last week alongside the announcement of their national tour & this track is an absolute beauty! Wrap your ears & eyes on it below:
Angus & Julia Stone are a well loved Australian brother-sister folk & indie pop group that formed in 2006. Angus & Julia Stone have together released four studio albums, "A Book Like This" (2007), "Down the Way" (2010), "Memories of An Old Friend" (2011) & their self-titled album "Angus & Julia Stone" (2014). Now nearly 3 years in the making their latest & 5th album (which is still yet to be given a release date & even be named) Angus & Julia Stone have released a sneaky single called "Snow" coinciding the single title alongside the announcement of their latest World Tour.
"Snow" on first listen to me felt breezy & airy in all the most lovely places, which explains why there is a strong love behind why Australia loves this duo. Their lyrics are sweet, gentle, humble, easygoing but mostly intimate. After a few listens you feel like you are there with them, caught up in the story. I look forward to seeing them live later in the year at my favourite venue & I also look forward to their 5th album when it does get released!
Hope you like the track as much as I do!
Cheers
Amy
