The Rain - Horrorshow

What a week it has been! I'm still working my way through the stressful part of the semester & then finally next week I'll have something to celebrate. Officially next week I will be submitting my FINAL major assessment ever & then it's time to party for my birthday!

I'll be doing things a little differently this year with both my family & boyfriend overseas, my bestie is spoiling me with a wee birthday dinner & next weekend I'll be treating myself to dinner & a night out dancing with close friends. We'll be hitting up the Soda factory for some booty shaking good times, it's going to be fabulous! I've also found out the date of my final exam (14th June) which is the exact same day that my cousin & her boyfriend visit Australia from Scotland. Can't wait to properly party that week & for many many weeks after that!

My internet at home has currently still been playing up but hopefully before the end of this week it will be fixed. With having no internet for nearly the past two weeks as well as stressing about these small things alongside uni work, work & other commitments luckily between all that I've had amazingly good friends, family & music to keep me strong, focused & motivated - big hugs & thanks <3 It's nice to know the countdown is on (5 weeks!) & by keeping a positive attitude it will definately help me get through this all a whole lot easier.

So this week I'll be sharing a track that especially has been helping me get through these past few weeks. It's a track I've listened to for quite a few years now but a few weeks ago it showed up on my playlist again & this time round its resonated with me a whole lot more. Wrap your ears around it below:

Horrorshow are an Australian hip hop duo from the Inner West area of Sydney, Australia. The duo consists of Solo (vocals) & Adit (producer). Together with Spit Syndicate, Jackie Onassis & Joyride, Horrorshow are also members of the One Day crew from the inner-west of Sydney.

"The Rain" is one of the top few songs of mine from their album "Inside Story" an album released in 2009. Their latest & greatest album "Bardo State" which was released late February this year is in my collection & since I've bought it I've been really digging "Tell Him He's Dreaming", "How We Get Down", "Never say Never", "Astray" & "If You Know What I Mean". They had been working on "Bardo State" for the past two years & its an absolute cracker.

And as the rain came down like missiles from the sky Set on a collision course from the heavens to the ground He's just standing in the middle of it all Unconcerned by the panic and the people running round So I stepped to this man with my hand outstretched Just to offer him some help to get the storm up off his head He took my hand down and we stood getting drenched He looked me in the eyes with a smile, this is what he said Hush child, from the joy to the pain It'll all wash away in the rain Hush child, from the joy to the pain It'll all wash away in the rain So play this song on the days when the rain keeps on And you wait and you pray it'll stop And if you stuck in a storm, then spare a second for the thought That we all at the mercy of the gods So instead of looking for somewhere to place the blame Accept it as a part of that big lazy eight Go outside and stand under the clouds And embrace it as the rain keeps plummeting down

The lyrics have especially resonated so highly lately with me due to all the uni stress & other little things in life. I feel as though this song reminds me that with pain/ hard work eventually there is joy & things that are seen as a pain now will eventually be a worry that will wash away. Remember throughout everything to look up & around you & just be thankful, embrace the rain & just accept/grow from it.

Hope you enjoy this track as much as I do & have a lovely rest of the week!

Cheers

Amy
