Systemagic -Goldfrapp

It's the first week of May & there are so many exciting things happening! As of this week I'm over the hump & have literally under 6 weeks left of uni to go! In the next few weeks I also have my major assessments due & then I have my birthday (a chance to finally let my hair down!) It's been a very busy past few weeks/months & I still can't believe that we are in the month of May! I'll have my final exam in June & then thats it! all the study is done. This year is going way too quickly!

Now that I'm at the crucial crazy part of the semester, I've been basically within blinkers & have just been listening to my original music playlist. Lately I've been listening to Oasis, Julia Jacklin, Holy Holy, Thirsty Merc, Courtney Barnett, Phoenix, Franz Ferdinand, Tash Sultana & Dappled Cities to name a few. I've also lately been re-listening to the recording of the Madeon & Porter Robinson at the Hordern Pavillion to keep me motivated throughout all of this study.

It's definitely been more quiet on my end as due to work/study commitments I currently have been swamped so no upcoming gigs except only for Queens of the Stoneage. It will be a busy next few weeks for me, but eventually soon I'll be able to get back to it & even more so back into new/old music again.

As much as I have taken a little step back from everything in the past week I have come across a very catchy tune from a long term artist that I've been listening to for years.

This week's track is literally hot off the press & was only released beginning of last week. So wrap your eyes & ears around it below:

Goldfrapp are an English electronic duo formed in 1999 that are based in London. The duo consists of Alison Goldfrapp (vocals/synthesizer) & Will Gregory (synthesiser).

I became a fan of Goldfrapp in 2010, after my dad lent me their CD "Black Cherry". Obsessing over vocals & synths in it's entirety the main tracks I loved from that CD was "Train", "Crystalline Green" & "Hairy Trees". I also managed to score a copy of their album "Supernature" which consisted of tracks such as "Ooh La La", "Number 1" & "Ride a White Horse".

The timing was perfect as in that same year I went to Splendour in the Grass, Goldfrapp were performing so I was able to see them live. Alison Goldfrapp was quite a spectacle onstage with her mega sparkly cape, giant wind fan, flowing locks & contemporary dance moves. They've always been a very space age style synth band to me so their tracks always have a unique feel about them.

Their latest album (album #7!) "Silver Eye" which was only released just over three weeks ago will definitely be added to my CD wishlist! The album's first single "Anymore" was released to digital music retailers on 23rd January this year after its premiere on Lauren Laverne's BBC Radio 6 show in the UK. "Systemagic" music video release is the first single to be released via music video for the album.

Hope you liked it as much as I did! Hope you all have a fabulous rest of your week!

Cheers Amy
