This morning I didn't want to get out bed, I feel as though the battle has only just begun! Over the weekend daylight savings gave us an extra hour but we are now back to lighter mornings & darker evenings - I'm putting my hand up, but its tough! I feel as though every time its gets round to this time of the year I forget how rainy it gets & how cool the air starts to feel in those morning walks to the bus stop & evening walks home. Battling back & forth between the flu, I just want my immune system to be cool for a good couple of weeks. Perfect timing with the cooler weather I guess as my ankle boots have almost decided to give up, so I'll be needing a new pair for the cooler months ahead! Will probably need to get out the trench coat at some point too, on a positive my autumn collection can slowly creep out of the wardrobe!
Well there's been in the past week lots of exciting announcements music wise, just announced yesterday but my all time favourite indie band Dappled Cities who have a show who had only recently announced their fifth studio album "Five" have now unveiled that fellow indie legends Red Riders will be their main supports on their upcoming east coast tour. It has literally been 10 years since the two bands embarked on a double tour but the wee reunion will take place at City Recital Hall as part of Vivid Live this year.
The APRA Awards were also on last night which celebrates Australia's Best Songwriters. Last night some of the the winners taking the awards were Sia, Troye Sivan, Flume, Vance Joy, D.D Dumbo & the award for Urban Work of the Year went to Ily's Papercuts so I was happy to hear!
Holy Holy have also just recently decided to take their latest album "Paint" on a National Tour, they've secured a spot on Splendour in the Grass for this year as well, so I'll definately be on the look out for tickets. They will be playing at the Factory Theatre announced 23rd June.
Getting pretty excited also, but this Friday I'll be seeing Illy on tour at the Enmore Theatre so this week's track is one of the first tracks I ever heard from him. Wrap your eyes & ears around it below (look how babyfaced he is!!)
Illy is an Australian hip hop recording artist from Frankston in Melbourne, Australia. Like I mentioned when I first heard of Illy it was 2010 & he had just released his second album "The Chase". His song "It Can Wait" became quite a favourite of mine & the rest of his album was just solid. "Put Em in The Air" would have to be my all time favourite second song following a close third for "Heard it All", "Cigarettes" & "On & On".
Happiness, happiness is fine but its momentary A momentary lapse of reality Reality is fine, but for the moment it can wait I'm addicted to the chase of my Happiness, happiness is fine but its momentary A momentary lapse of reality Reality is fine, but for the moment it can wait I'm addicted to the chase of my happiness
Hope you all like it as much as I do & hope you all have an amazing week!
Cheers Amy
