Death - White Lies

Back to reality & oops there goes gravity! I'm back to uni this week & have to shake myself back into the routine. It might be a little tough as my final weekend before heading back to uni was absolute bliss! My best friend is getting married in November so all the bridesmaids got together & we went shoe shopping. It's all very exciting & starting to feel a lot more real for everyone which is lovely. Luckily after a successful few hours we found the winning pair & treated ourselves to sushi! Sunday was also very chill, a good glimpse of Summer through the rain we've been experiencing, couple of beers, cheese & crackers, good music, good company & all of that sitting under a giant beach shade. I'm feeling well rested after my few weeks of freedom so I definately feel ready enough to take this final subject down.

Very similar to last week as now that I am back to uni, I'll be rotating more CDs whilst I study. But I think uni holidays has really helped me to just take a step back from everything as I've just been listening a lot to The XX, Illy, The Killers, The Bravery, The White Lies & mainly just my usual regular playlist on public transport/work.

Aside from that though yesterday I heard that Uffie (ultimate pop princess/badass from the early 2000s) is back on the mic. The track which was literally released only yesterday is the first track in 5 years that Uffie has been featured in! You can give it a listen here, it's a collab with Charli XCX as Charli XCX releases her new 10 track mixtape "Number 1 Angel".

This weeks track is an oldie but a goodie, a song that always delivers ultimate goosebumps no matter how many times its played. There's something haunting about the lyrics & tone but I absolutely love it. Wrap your eyes & ears around it below:

White Lies are an English post-punk band from Ealing, London. The band consists of Harry McVeigh (lead vocals/guitar), Charles Cave (bass guitar/backing vocals) & Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums).

The first time I heard "Death" was when it was released in 2009 apart of their album "To Lose My Life.." within the few seconds of this song playing it gave me ultimate goosebumps & even now to this day every time I hear this track it seriously still takes me to another place.

White Lies' musical style could be compared as dark yet uplifting & to me they sound very similar to Interpol, The Killers, The Editors & Joy Division. Their latest album titled "Friends" was released mid to late 2016.

Hope you like it as much as I do, have a great week!

Cheers Amy
