Well I'm pleased to finally be on uni holidays, it's been a grueling past 3 months but it's lovely to finally be at this point where for once I don't have to bring up uni into conversation! So I'll be short & sweet but my exam went well & I walked out of there confident. Super crazy but lightning struck the building midway through the exam so hopefully that's really a strike of good luck for me haha! Now I leave it all to the marking gods over the next few weeks & there's really not much else I can do about it till mid March.
The past weekend has been really really relaxing - the first weekend of slight freedom! I did brunch, binge watched copious amounts of television & even got to see my favourite NRL team play & win their game! The weather has been a mix of lovely & also very stormy so it's been perfect to also just curl up at home & listen to some music!
I've been listening to Julia Jacklin & The XX, as during study I've been really digging both albums they are just sultry/instrumental & sweet to study to. Recently I've also been delving into a slight nostalgia trip by listening to some bands that I listened to during & just out of school. Maybe its the influence of watching copious reruns of the OC but there's been a few songs I've gone back to. Lately I've been listening to The Kooks, The Enemy, Kings of Leon, Queens of the Stoneage, The Bravery, The Killers & also Dappled Cities Fly.
Excitedly enough but tonight I have managed to secure a double pass to see Dappled Cities for their 100 capacity secret show. They are releasing new singles this year & soon enough their 5th album will eventually release this year as well.
This weekend I'm also excitedly seeing Madeon & Porter Robinson at the Hordern Pavillion. It's going to be absolutely jaw dropping, so hopefully I'll have some awesome reviews & pics to share next week.
So this week to go with the Dappled theme, wrap your ears & eyes around this amazing track below:
Dappled Cities; but will always be to me known as Dappled Cities Fly are a five-piece indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. The first ever song I heard from Dappled Cities was "Peach" which you can listen to here this track was a featured song on the 2005 Homebake CD that came free with the weekend newspaper. Since that first listen I was hooked, basically I have been a fan of Dappled since I was 14. I remember that same year they released Peach they got a gig to play at the Easter Show & being under 18 this was my chance to see them live. I managed to meet the band & even got a picture with Lead guitarist/ Vocalist Tim Derricourt. They are seriously the most underrated & down to earth band I've ever come across in my history of listening to music. They bring such energy on the stage, but in their own fun & interesting way. Choosing a song by them this week was hard as I've got too many favourites but I'll let this song speak for itself!
Hope that you all have a fabulous week!
Cheers Amy
