Summer feels like its definately here to stay & how lucky are we that right now its sunny with blue skies! Ok now it may be a little on the humid side, but thankfully most of my days aren't completely under the suns rays! When outside in the sun though its a completely different story just give me 5 minutes in the sun & without sunscreen I become a total lobster haha! Well with what nice weather we've been able to experience I literally spent every night last week after work in the swimming pool & getting my laps up - so nice & refreshing! Swimming has been really helpful in putting my mind into focus as I have still one more week to go before I have to hand in a dreadful assignment (I'm saying dreadful as unfortunately for group work its been more stressful than in the past) Then after this assignment is handed in, I can breathe a little more & start shifting my focus on the final exam.
As we edge closer to the second half of January (what already!?) I have a few things to look forward to when we reach February. Be proud of me, but I signed up for a Horror theatrical walk through at a mystery location, I will also like I do every year participate in FebFast where I give up Alcohol for the whole month, I've got Laneway Festival in the first week of February & I'm really really getting excited to see Gang of Youths & Tourist. Just last week they also announced that King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizards would also be added to the line up - could this line up get anymore epic or what?! Also my favourite of all time radio station last week gained new Breakfast hosts; Ben & Liam. Personally my life hasn't changed & I think they are both doing a wonderful job. Triple J will always be my fave no matter what.
Then in the second half of February & when my exam is over (couldn't have picked better timing) I'll be celebrating up big time with my mate Yvette at Porter Robinson & Madeon, they are playing at the Hordern Pavillion & it's going to be absolutely breath taking!
This week's track was released at the end of last year & since it's release its been quite the motivating track. Wrap your ears around it below:
Bliss n Eso are an Australian hip hop band based in Sydney & were originally known as Bliss n' Esoterikizm for their debut EP The Arrival. Bliss n Eso are currently signed to Melbourne record label Illusive Sounds. Bliss n Eso have released five studio albums which include two number 1 debuts on the ARIA Charts. "Friend Like You" featuring Lee Fields on vocals was released in December last year. Following the release of their maiden single & first new track in three years "Dopamine". A new album is approaching later this year & you can already feel the excitement in the air.
Yo, this is a leap of faith I got heart, you can count on that It's all mind over matter When you hit rockbottom you gon' bounce right back Pick yourself up, dust yourself off And you start from ground zero And if you need any help Just believe in yourself, you are your own hero
The one thing I really love about hip hop its all about the story & the story sits behind the lyrics. The lyrics take you on a journey & "Friend Like You" is super catchy, the lyrics are empowering as understandably there a times when people let events/emotions get the better of them. It's a wee reminder to be strong & always stay true.
Hope you all enjoy the track as much as I do - have a fantastic week!
Cheers
Amy
