Shelter - Porter Robinson & Madeon

Slightly surreal to be back in Australia but the Japan trip was absolutely totally amazing! I literally landed back in Australia early Sunday & within half an hour had a coffee in my hand, it's great to be home & great to get back & stuck into my projects again.

**With the recent news I've heard this morning about the earthquake that has hit Fukushima in Japan, I hope that all the people in Japan are safe & if not making their way to safety. Luckily I've heard so far that the nuclear plants in the area have not been damaged but tsunami warnings are all across the east coast. Will be thinking of those beautiful people affected today!

In the final week of my Japan trip, we headed to Hiroshima & that was probably the most sobering part of the trip. Then it was onwards & back to vibrant Tokyo for our final few days. We checked out the arcades/ claw machines in the electronic district Akihabara, had lunch/dessert at an Alice in Wonderland inspired cafe & went Mario Karting in onesies as part of a 3 hour tour of Tokyo city. Since we came without our international licences we couldn't physically drive the carts, but for the non-drivers there was the option of a disco tuk tuk! & the highlight was definately the tuk tuk having large portable speakers. I got allocated roaming DJ & got to blast my playlist through Tokyo city; even better I got to blast "Say it feat. Tove Lo by Flume" loudly as we crossed through the famous Shibuya Crossing!!

Last Friday was also Aus Music Band Tshirt Day as part of Aus music month, so I wore my Alex Lahey shirt to Tokyo Disneyland. I always love to take part each year & celebrate Aus Music month & there are so many great/ emerging artists out there so I celebrated all the way from Tokyo!

Being back to uni this week & back to work as well I'll be needing high motivation to get me started. We all have those certain tracks that motivates us & gets us going & this week's track is one that will seriously motivate me through jet lag & hopefully you guys & gals as well! So wrap your ears around it below:

Porter Robinson is an American electronic music producer & Madeon is a French electronic music producer & together they are seriously the ultimate dance duo. "Shelter" was released & uploaded to Madeon's YouTube channel early August this year.

Porter Robinson & Madeon have both unique but complementing music styles & since recently being in Japan it definitely has the retro/arcade/game style vibe to it also that I love.

Last week they announced additionally to their Canadian/American tour that they would extend to Australia. So I managed to score not just pre-sale but extra pre-sale tickets to see Porter Robinson's & Madeon dual Australian Tour for February next year. I'm absolutely super pumped as last year (it was the first gig I had ever attended on my own) I saw Porter Robinson perform at the Enmore theatre & it was the best live show I've seen from an electronic act. The visuals, the streamers/confetti & the audience participation was exceptional.

For years of following both Madeon & Porter Robinson, it has always been a secret dream of mine for those two artists to collab & when they actually finally did, it was like the musical baby of everyone's dreams.

Hope you dig it as much as I do, & have a fantastic week music lovers!

Cheers
