I'm super duper excited today as literally tomorrow evening I officially start my trip to Japan! Find this hard to believe but I'm super organised, packed & ready to go & only taking 11 kilos with me for just over two weeks!! Well what a week this week has been already! Heart palpitations literally as my uni results came through last night instead of today & I can happily announce I passed both subjects with flying colours! *phew* Pass for Management Decision Making & Distinction for Organisational Behaviour - Super chuffed! This means that I've only got two subjects left till I can officially graduate! Woo woo
So with one less worry out of the way & what felt like a total weight off my shoulders, I can truly now focus on my trip & have fun! Even better but just before I go it's Melbourne Cup & just a little excuse to get dolled up & out of the office. With the current news of my results, there will definitely be champagne, dancing & my plan isn't entirely set in stone but I plan to party quite a bit. I guess most of my sleep won't be till I'm actually on the plane!
I've synced all the new music on my phone so I'll have lots of awesome songs to listen to on my journey. Finally got round to the shops last week so I now own Ocean Party's albums "Lightweight" & "Restless", D.D Dumbo "Utopia Defeated", Katy Steele's "Human" & an extra addition of King Krule's "6 Feet Beneath The Moon". For the rest of last week & most of the weekend I've worked my way through most albums & I'll tell ya it was totally worth the wait! So for the next few weeks across my time in Japan there will be some awesome full track album reviews!
This week's track is not entirely a latest single, but definitely quite a catchy number & one to hopefully have you grooving as well! Wrap your eyes & ears around it below:
"The Trouble with Us" is by English DJ Marcus Marr & Australian musician Chet Faker (Nick Murphy). The song was released October 2015 & since then it's been a groover & shaker to me. Marcus Marr & Chet Fakers friendship actually begun over social media & it was over the internet their collaboration took form. "The Trouble with Us" was literally one of the four tracks that the pair made within four days in Marr’s South London recording studio.
The guitar rift throughout this track is gorgeous & funky but yet timeless as if you would recognise it in older songs. It's the kinda of track that you could easily toe tap to or get up & shimmy.

What really strikes me about the song, isn't just the lyrics & the rhythm but the music video also really fascinated me. I love how the music video plays out an entire relationship, the doting, the flirting, the dancing, the touching, the fighting & yet with a simplistic storyline packs so much emotion. In it's purest form it explains how most relationships can be like waves out to sea. Some relationships out there, involve a little to & fro but like catching a fish most of them get thrown back into the ocean, till we're caught hook, line & sinker again.
