Agoraphobia - Tired Lion

Trying to contain my excitement over here but I have officially less than a week till I head to Japan! Nearly everything has been booked & I've been scrubbing up on key Japanese words so still with lots of practice I've hopefully got this in the bag! My favourite phrase at the moment is "Choushi wa dou?" which means "whats up?"

I've already got into a good groove with uni holidays, loving the freedom of doing whatever I want. It's been really nice to catch up on movies & TV, go for drinks & dessert & my weekend past was mostly outside in the sunshine or with a book in bed <3

I also had time to go to the shops over the weekend to get a few final things for my trip, but I'm still yet to go CD shopping! At some point this week I'll go, so over the next few weeks whilst I'm travelling Japan I should have some awesome full soundtrack reviews!

For the past few weeks I've also been curating a travel playlist, finding the best songs to play as we ascend into the clouds & fly over. I really try to look for a song in the moment, a few years ago when I was in Europe I listened to "London Calling" by the Clash as we circled around on the London Eye & in the USA last year I played "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash & Tom Petty's "Time to Move On" as we drove down the long stretching highway. There's really nothing more exciting than counting down to a trip, but an even better feeling is finding that song that picks out the moment perfectly so if you have any song suggestions for me, please fill out the contact on the bottom of this page! As I said I love new & old suggestions!

This week's track is a rocking one & one I've been listening to since the beginning of this month. Wrap your eyes & ears around it below:

Tired Lion are an four piece indie rock band from Perth, Australia & consist of Sophie Hopes (Vocals) Matt Tanner (Guitar) Ethan Darnell (Drums) & Nick Vasey (Bass). "Agoraphobia" which was released earlier this month on the 6th October is the bands newest single under Independent Label Dew Process / UMA (Australia) which record label they signed to earlier this year.

In 2015, Tired Lion won Triple J's prestigious Unearthed Award, & were given the opportunity to rock the main stage at Splendour In The Grass. Their most recent releases off the back of 2015 were "Suck" & "I Don’t Think You Like Me". Since that turning point, it's only been onward & upwards for the band as earlier in the year they embarked on their first ever UK/European tour. This included playing the Glastonbury Festival in June alongside the likes of Adele, PJ Harvey & Muse. They also returned to Australia for Splendour in the Grass in July with an official time slot & recently performed at the beginning of this month at Wollongong's Yours & Owls Festival & later in the year to bring in the New Year they're playing Falls Festival.

"Agoraphobia" is raw & honest & is like a track worn on your sleeve. Tackling the elephant in the room which is Mental Illness, Agoraphobia is named after the extreme panic & irrational fear of open & public spaces. Their music video is a perfect example of just how much chaos Agoraphobia can feel like, & real people in this music video came out with bruises & chipped teeth!

Motels & scratching pads,

No way out of this dead end,

Supersonic,

The Darkness will become your friend,

Things will be alright,

As long as we just get some sleep,

This weekend Tired Lion are playing at the Hordern Pavillion as well as a string of other national dates as they are support act to Aussie's Violent Soho, there might even still be tickets so check them out!

Hope that you all have a rocking week!

Cheers
