After a few weeks of not visiting JB-HI FI & thanks to today being pay day I will be finally be making a visit & buying some CDs. I finished a pretty big uni assessment over the weekend, big in work load but not so big in percentage so I've decided to treat myself! I've had my eye on Iggy Pop's album "Post Pop Depression", Violent Soho's second album release "WACO" & Urthboy's "The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat". In the past week I've been listening to DMA's heaps hands down I'm starting to believe they are becoming a top 5 musically for me. (that does says a lot!) I've also been delving back to my all time first scot rock obsession Franz Ferdinand. I was the biggest of biggest of fans & still am for Franz Ferdinand. I remember going to their concert at the Enmore Theatre 2006, I didn't charge my camera batteries so I got only one blurry picture of frontman Alex Kapranos from the night. During school I also had a collaged band folder that I carried around to class, which majority had pictures of Franz Ferdinand & another band Dappled Cities Fly. (Which I'm sure you will hear about that obsession soon enough)
Who would have thought that more than 10 years later that I would still be rocking out to their tracks & they are still to this day chucking out good tunes. Music is such a high motivator for me, I have it on while I study, while I chill & while I survive the montrousity of public transport. I'm sure I've gone through this discovery before but music IS our emotions, music is a way that we speak when words can't come out, no matter the language it is something that holds us or makes us unique. There is such an excitement when music is shared & the love of music can make a situation or feeling so much better.
Now I'm surprised actually that I haven't featured this song or these artists yet, as currently for at least 6 months I have been shimmie-ing my shoes to these guys. Check out one of my favourite tracks from them below:
Galantis is a Swedish electronic music production & songwriting duo consisting of Christian "Bloodshy" Karlsson from Miike Snow, & Linus Eklöw aka Style of Eye. Galantis has had international success due to a couple of released singles. "Gold Dust" was released on 23 February 2015 as the third single from their debut studio album Pharmacy which was released last year.
I heard about Galantis when their first single "You & I" was released last year & was thrilled when I bought tickets to Stereosonic last year that they were on the lineup. Gold Dust is my favourite song of theirs as I just love the lyrics. I guess I'm just a little bit of a romantic really haha!
