Get Down - Jess Kent

Well lets just say it took me an extra 10 minutes to get out of bed; the struggle is real. We've been lucky the last few days as the weather has been fab-dabby dosey but those final days of Summer are almost behind us completely & I'm holding on by tenterhooks. Today has been just rainy & horrible & I'm sure its just a glimpse of the weeks & months of cold weather to come.

The past week I have been out & enjoying my final week of uni holidays, mainly eating & lazing but still a last glimpse of fun before the reality of my new semester sets in (which began yesterday) Last week I also found out that after 4 years of music hiatus LADYHAWKE is back & has a new album "Wild Things" out in June this year & also dropped two teaser tracks through to her newsletter subscribers "Sweet Fascination" & "A Love Song" *tries to contain excitement* at first listen it seems to me she is going down a more electronic path likening it to Ellie Goulding, Madeon, Wave Racer & Porter Robinson.

I also went to a midweek gig for Sosueme at Beach Road & saw an array of seasoned & emerging artists; Jess Kent, Cosmo's Midnight, L.K. McKay, Sports, Viberia, Krissy Jaman & as a big surprise the comedy cast from TV Show Workaholics came in & did a surprise set.

Inspiring this week's track, here's a song from an emerging artist on the night that got me jumping around the most! Check it below:

Jess Kent is an amazing artist whose roots began on Triple J Unearthed (You can view her page by clicking here) Born in England & moving to Australia when she was just 11, Jess Kent has dropped one of the most infectious tracks of 2015 (& only just now reaching my listening capacity within the past month)

It was such a surprise for me at the gig last week to see her perform as only in the past month I read an article from Triple J Unearthed about the Top 10 Rising Stars of 2016. Jess Kent grew up to a range of influences from The Clash, The Who, Oasis and Blondie to name a few. But the one artist that stuck in my mind throughout the whole of her performance was Lily Allen. They share the same talent for story telling. "Get Down" which is currently one of her leading tracks won herself a spot on the lineup for Sydney's Field Day Festival, alongside Disclosure, Flight Facilities, The Wombats & more on New Years Day beginning of this year. Taking the crown for 2016 Triple J Unearthed Winner.

Well this song has quickly become my jam & I'm absolutely digging it!

Cheers Amy
