Can't believe we are already in March! My Febfast is over & thanks to everyone's support I have raised over $600 to help Australian Youth with Drug & Alcohol addiction (thank you!) Being the 2nd week of March also signifies the last official week of my uni holidays too, so it's back to start a new semester next Monday. Today is also results day for my previous semester! (eek!)
The past week for me musically, I've pre-ordered Matt Corby's new album "Telluric" which is being released on the 11th March. In April I'll be seeing him for his album launch tour (getting excited!) I also pre-ordered Elizabeth Rose's new album "Intra" which was released just recently on the 4th March. Thanks to JB-HI FI & Inertia Records for pre-ordering yesterday & alongside receiving the album I got 3 bonus MP3s & a signed poster by Elizabeth Rose herself! I also received the new album release for DMAs "Hills End" so I can't wait to listen to both albums this week!!
For this weeks track the focus is International Womens Day, "Happy International Women's Day ladies!!" I noticed that Triple J are doing this today & so will I! This week's track is inspired by one of my all time favourite female artists. Check out one her kick arse originals here:
Robyn, is a Swedish vocalist, & her career began in 1997 for the worldwide dance-pop hit "Do You Know (What It Takes)" from her debut album, Robyn Is Here. I've known her style more directly from when her track "With Every Heartbeat" was released in 2005. Her self titled album, Robyn, brought her international success in 2005. As mentioned in an older post, Robyn has lately been collaborating with La Bagatelle Magique (with tracks such as: Love Is Free, Lose Control, Set Me Free & Tell You Today) Robyn is also my absolute fave artist of all time as she is just so free spirited, she also is well known for her kick ass dance moves when on stage. I was very lucky to get 4th row & see her perform at Parklife in 2012. You can check out one of her most danciest music videos by clicking --> here
Hit the gong-gong Bring the sumos on I'm 'a kick ass all the way to Hong Kong Make the balls bounce like a game of ping-pong Konichiwa bitches from Beijing to Siagon
Got nothing on me 'Cause you know you're so bum Dom-didi-dom-didididi-dom-dom Check the scenario I'm 'a bust your ear drum And leave you heads ringing With a ring-a-ding-dong
Now there are quite a few songs I know every word to & "Konichiwa Bitches" is one of them. Ever since the first time I heard this song, I thought it was absolutely badass! I've always imagined if i ever had to fight off with words this song would be it & be the one I would try to spit. For a song I find it very empowering especially to women "wanna taste the vanilla better watch your tongue!" Basically a message to all women; be as badass or no ass as you want to be, be yourself but remember to always be true to you & if any sucker tells you otherwise then tell them to shove it!
Girl Powerrrrr!
Cheers Amy
