Merry Christmas Everyone - Slade

The year is finally starting to slow down, the Christmas parties have been & gone, the hampers have been handed out, the last minute shopping is being planned & the trifle is soon to be made! Christmas is only a few days away! Luckily last week Mum & I both tackled & finished our Christmas shopping (so thats one less thing to do!) Last Tuesday night straight after work, we headed to the shops for a couple of hours & didn't leave till we had bought everything we needed (didn't get home till almost half 11! super exhausted but totally worth it) Our priorities for the week now are just ensuring that we have all the right ingredients & the rest is setting up on the day.

This year we've got Christmas at our house, & slowly we are almost completely organised for the day ahead. If the weather is lovely too than thats a bonus for us! Christmas presents between the family have already been arranged as well; our trip to NZ! So some point after Christmas we'll be getting ready to pack our bags.

Last week I had my work xmas party which was a tonne of fun, we had a lovely dinner, a couple of drinks & of course a boogie on the dancefloor. (I will honestly admit to going on the dance floor when a Justin Bieber song came on) Then on Friday me & mum had our annual ladies night to check out all the Christmas lights around the city (& of course a few champers for good spirit)

To get us into the festive spirit, this week I'll be sharing one of my all time favourite Christmas songs. You can jingle your bells to it below:

So here it is Merry Christmas!

Everybodys having fun,

Look to the future now,

It's only just begun!

There is just a certain number of Christmas songs that can spring that Christmas magic back each year. "Merry Christmas Everyone" is such a classic Christmas rock song & it was a song that I grew up with. I have fond memories of rocking around the Christmas tree to this over the years & Christmas just doesn't feel like Christmas without putting it on. Released in 1973 by English Rock band Slade, this track became their best-selling single which sold over a million copies upon its first release.

As I mentioned last week, when all of us reach this time of the year it gives us a chance to look at the year we've just had & a chance to look with much clarity for the year ahead. "Merry Christmas Everyone" is full of optimism & light, as it turns your gaze to look to the future ahead. Which is interesting as this song was written at a time where the UK wasn't the greatest that it could be.

What exciting things there is to look forward to & what new experiences could be learned?I guess we shall have to see!

Christmas to me has always been a chance to reconnect with close family & friends, so on that note I wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a safe wonderful Happy New Year!

Cheers Amy
