Can you believe that we are officially 10 days & counting towards Christmas! I've been slowly starting to feel more festive with the help of the little things. Last week, Mum put up our Christmas tree & decorations so I decorated my room with some tinsel & naturally Christmas carols are being played everywhere so it's hard to avoid! The best part of Christmas is having a proper catch up with family, yummy food & desserts & of course my mums famous White Christmas & trifle!
I must admit though I always get a little breathless at this time of the year as I'm always amazed how I've made it here again so quickly, when I think back I'm sure it was only July a moment ago! Looking back this year has had alot of ups, I begun the year dancing to Empire of the Sun in Tasmania, I'm a third part owner of a highland cow called "Little Moo", so far so good powering through my uni work, I squeezed a quick weekend away to Melbourne & then in August I road tripped from one side of America to another & in between that I've met amazing amazing people - travel/work/life it's been a well balanced year me thinks. I've already started thinking up new & exciting things to do for 2016!
This week's track has been on my mind for quite a while, the lyrics just roll off the tongue so easily & its quite a catchy tune. You can clap along to it here below:
Loon Lake is an indie rock band based in Melbourne, "Cherry Lips" became the band's highest charting single to date after reaching #29 on the Triple J Hottest 100 in early 2013. It also scored #5 on the Australian Independent Record Label Association's Independent Singles Chart. Their latest album "Gloamer" was released late 2013, since then the band haven't released any new material but this song will always be an old favourite of mine.
But it's almost night time And you know that's the right time to dance ooh Put your cherry on your lips and shake your sexy hips Tonight's the chance Ooh to dance, yeah to dance
Every time I hear this song it makes me think of all the times my mum has suggested that I put lipstick on. I know I have a pale complexion (Scottish parents!) so I do believe her when she says it brightens up my face. I've also never really been a lip gloss girl, so lipstick to me has always been so classy. It's nice that something so simple as lipstick can instantly make you feel a certain way, whenever I have the chance to get dolled up or go on a night out I always make sure I have my lipstick on me. With lipstick on I always feel that extra bit confident!
Hope you all have a great week & shake your sexy hips tonight's the chance
Cheers Amy
