With Summer almost around the corner, the Winter blues seem far further than they've ever been & it's such a nice feeling round this time of year! Now that we have the choice to not wear a jacket or coat as much as needed before, its great! It's been a busy past week for me settling back into uni, which didn't help the workload as there was so much more exciting things happening in Sydney!
In between study & work, I was able to get dolled up to celebrate The Melbourne Cup. We kicked back a couple of drinks throughout the day at the QT Hotel before shimmie-ing onwards to Establishment to end the night with a boogie. I was quite lucky but one of the horses I picked came third, but the real winner of the day was my Mum who at last minute put a $2 each way bet on "Prince of Penzance" scoring herself a shy $230 for winning the race.
Last week was pretty much a dancing week for me, despite getting my boogie on at Establishment, I also tried my hand or should I say booty at the Beyonce Dance Class at GoodGod Small Club & it was such a laugh! I can now confidently say that I know the dance moves to "Single Ladies" & can put a ring on it; It was such a great workout! The rest of my week was quite chill, on Friday me & my family celebrated a neighbours birthday by playing a few soul & motown records in the garage & then Sunday I lay in the sun, checked out the markets & listened to the local Aussie talent at Newtown Festival.
Speaking of Australian Talent, only just a week into Aus Music Month & it's been a very exciting week for me. Yesterday theMusic.com.au released a pre-release premiere track "Love Don't Feel Right" by The Cairos. (You can wrap your ears around it by clicking on the album cover)
The Cairos are an independant three-piece indie band based in Brisbane The band was formed in Brisbane in 2007 & as of yesterday have pre-released their newest single "Love Don't Feel Right" since their debut album "Dream Of Reason" was released last year.
What drew me in about this track, is just how summery it sounds. I can just picture myself like I was on Sunday, lying in the sun & listening to this track with a bunch of friends. It feels so carefree & easy going, yet has a spring in its step with its poppy feel. For Australian music it's always exciting when a band tries a new direction & quite frankly I'm wanting to follow!
Cheers Amy
