It's such a nice feeling when you're at the start of a New Year & even more so a New Decade! Given my Scottish heritage Hogmanay holds an even closer place in all of my family & I's hearts. It gives us all a chance to clean out our cupboards, clean through our homes, put aside past feuds/grudges, redesign our future goals & start everything again afresh & with new perspective.
Last week before New Years Eve was upon us I got to work & made sure the house was tidy, I even did a little spring clean in my wardrobe & got a few donation bags together for Vinnies! & on the morning of New Years Eve to end 2019 with a bang Simon & I officially booked MEXICO for February! Which means we're off to Mexico City, Cancun & down the East Coast in almost exactly a months time!
I even got a chance on New Years Eve to finish work at a decent time, which meant the party could start early at my mates house party. What a way to end the year there was nibbles, a sangria bowl, fireball, glowsticks, hilarious party games & a banging DECADE playlist & even better company! It was really fun listening to all these songs that depicted our decade & seeing how much had changed music wise, we all had fun trying to guess what year the song may have come out & our memories surrounding it brought out some good stories!
Another nostalgia trip was end of last week when I decided to take Simon to a bar I haven't been to in a while. It's called VASCO in Surry Hills & I'm definitely sure I've brought it up on Play It Forward >> before. VASCO is like a mini Frankies Pizza but with a complete mind of its own; don't mind the bollocks! It may be a small bar but it packs a lot of punch for Classic & Metal Rock, they also serve up the meanest bowls of gnocchi that are like little pillows of gorgeousness. There's a Drum Kit on the actual bar & like a rock concert, the bar staff will shout into the mic & hit the drum kit alongside the music playing at the time. All while making amazing cocktails!
Every time I've been to VASCO, I've easily started toe tapping, head banging & shimmie-ing on the stool. On this particular occasion it's this week's song that gave me the most nostalgia. Hope you love the throw back!
Formed in 1997 in Western Australia, Eskimo Joe is an Australian Alternative rock band consisting of Stuart MacLeod (guitar), Joel Quartermain (drums & guitar) & Kavyen Temperley (bass guitar & vocals).
In total over the years Eskimo Joe released six albums; Girl (2001), A Song Is A City (2004), Black Fingernails, Red Wine (2006), Inshalla (2009), Ghosts of the Past (2011) & Wastelands (2013).
Hello, hello, oh hello The world repeats itself some how She knows, she knows, oh she knows, The world repeats itself some how
One of my first few earliest rock concerts I've been lucky to see Eskimo Joe live & on the lineups alongside other great bands, I could even say the last time I saw just them live was at the Apple Music Store in the Sydney CBD in 2009.
They are just Classic Australian Rock, every song is an absolute classic!
Hope you loved the throwback as much as I did, I'm going to dig through my CDs & find some more throwbacks! Hope you all have a great week!
Cheers
Amy
